Storage & Performance Notes
- SSD is mandatory — FH6 uses DirectStorage and cannot run on traditional HDDs.
- NVMe recommended for faster load times during fast travel and event restarts.
- DLSS 3.5 & FSR 3.0 supported on PC for improved frame rates.
- Ray tracing available on PC (Ultra) and console (Quality mode — 30 FPS with full RT at 4K).
- Cross-platform play between Xbox, PS5 and PC (Steam).
Can My PC Run FH6? A Practical Guide to the Spec Tiers
The spec tables above are the official numbers, but they don't tell you what the game actually feels like at each tier. Here's the honest translation. If your rig lands at Minimum, you're playing FH6 at 1080p/30 FPS with low-to-medium settings — playable, but you're losing the visual identity of the game, and in a fast open-world racer, 30 FPS makes high-speed cornering noticeably harder. If you're at Recommended, you're at the sweet spot: 1440p/60 FPS with high settings, which is where the game looks and feels its best for most people. Ultra is for 4K displays and people who want ray-traced reflections in every puddle.
The single most important component is your GPU VRAM. FH6 streams a massive open world, and it eats VRAM. The minimum 6GB (GTX 1060) will run the game, but you'll see texture pop-in and stuttering in dense areas like the Horizon Festival site. 8GB (RTX 3070) is comfortable for 1440p. 12-16GB (RTX 4080, RX 7900 XTX) is where 4K and ray tracing become smooth. If you're upgrading for FH6, VRAM is where to spend first, then CPU.
GPU Tier List — What Each Card Gets You
| GPU Tier | Example Cards | Resolution | Settings | Expected FPS |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Minimum | GTX 1060 6GB, RX 580 8GB | 1080p | Low-Medium | 30 |
| Entry 1080p | RTX 2060, RX 5700 XT | 1080p | High | 60 |
| Recommended | RTX 3070, RX 6800 | 1440p | High | 60 |
| High 1440p | RTX 4070, RX 7800 XT | 1440p | Ultra + DLSS/FSR | 90+ |
| Ultra 4K | RTX 4080, RX 7900 XTX | 4K | Ultra + Ray Tracing | 60 |
| Extreme | RTX 4090 | 4K | Ultra + Full RT | 90+ |
Upgrade Advice — Where to Spend First
If you're below spec and want to upgrade for FH6, here's the priority order based on what gives you the most performance per dollar for this specific game:
- GPU (VRAM first). FH6 is GPU-bound in almost every scenario. A card with 8GB+ VRAM is the single biggest upgrade. If you're choosing between a faster CPU or a better GPU, pick the GPU every time.
- SSD. If you're somehow still on a hard drive, this isn't optional — FH6 won't run properly without an SSD. An NVMe drive costs very little and eliminates the stutter that plagues open-world racers.
- RAM. 16GB is the comfort zone. 8GB (the minimum) will cause hitches when the game background-loads the world while you're driving fast. 32GB is overkill unless you're also streaming.
- CPU. Last priority. The minimum i5-8400 / Ryzen 5 2600 is genuinely enough for 60 FPS, and modern CPUs rarely bottleneck FH6. Only upgrade CPU if you're targeting 120+ FPS on a high-refresh display.
If you're not sure where you land, check the PC performance settings guide for tuning FH6 to your exact hardware, and see where to buy FH6 once you've confirmed your rig can handle it.
