Porsche 911 GT3 RS vs GT2 RS, 911 vs 911, the Ultimate FH6 Family Feud
NA track precision vs twin-turbo monster, which 911 actually delivers the better FH6 experience?
This is the 911 question that splits the Porsche community right down the middle and honestly I get why now. The GT3 RS is Porsche's naturally aspirated track weapon, a 4.0L flat-six screaming to 9,000 rpm with motorsport-derived aero that generates actual downforce at speed. The GT2 RS is the boosted older sibling, a 3.8L twin-turbo flat-six putting out 691 hp through the rear wheels with a swan-neck wing and NACA ducts everywhere. Both are rear-engine RWD monsters. Both sit in S1 class. But they're fundamentally different cars wearing the same badge and after hundreds of laps in both I can tell you exactly where each one wins.

Performance Analysis
The GT2 RS is faster on paper and faster in practice, no way around it. 171 extra horsepower through the same rear-engine RWD layout means it gaps the GT3 RS on any track with significant straights. The twin-turbos spool fast, peak torque arrives around 2,500 rpm compared to the GT3's 6,000 rpm torque peak, and the mid-range punch is genuinely shocking for a 911. On circuits like the full Goliath or the highway runs, the GT2 just walks away.
But the GT3 RS fights back through corners and I've seen it happen enough times now to call it a real pattern. The NA engine is lighter over the rear axle, the response is instant with zero turbo lag, and the 9,000 rpm redline lets you hold gears longer through corners without upsetting the chassis. The GT3 RS also feels more planted under braking, the front end bites harder on turn-in because there's less mass being thrown around, and the aero package is newer with more downforce. On tight technical circuits the GT3 RS can genuinely hang with or even beat the GT2 RS depending on the driver.
Driving Feel
Ngl the GT3 RS is the better driver's car and it's not particularly close. That naturally aspirated flat-six howl at 9,000 rpm is one of the greatest sounds in automotive history and FH6 captures it beautifully. The chassis communicates every surface change through the steering wheel, the rear end gives you progressive warning before stepping out, and the whole experience feels organic and transparent. You're dancing with the car rather than wrestling it.
The GT2 RS is faster but more intimidating. The turbo power comes on violently, especially in lower gears where traction is already scarce with 691 hp going through only the rears. You're constantly managing wheelspin, short-shifting to keep the rear tires hooked up, and the sensation of speed is almost overwhelming on tight tracks. It's thrilling but exhausting. The GT3 RS you can lap all day without fatigue. The GT2 RS demands you bring your A-game every single corner.
Pros / Cons
GT3 RS Pros: 9000 rpm soundtrack is legendary, razor-sharp handling, better on technical tracks, lighter feel, more forgiving at the limit, cheaper.
GT3 RS Cons: Down 171 hp to the GT2, loses on high-speed tracks, needs to be wrung out to access power, can feel slow after driving turbo cars.
GT2 RS Pros: Brutal acceleration, dominates high-speed circuits, massive mid-range torque, that rear wing actually works, Nurburgring record holder DNA.
GT2 RS Cons: Turbo lag exists, traction-limited in low gears, more expensive, demanding to drive fast, can feel heavy compared to GT3.
Verdict
GT3 RS for the experience, GT2 RS for the lap time. If you want the fastest Porsche in FH6 S1 class, buy the GT2 RS and learn to manage the power. It will reward you with leaderboard positions the GT3 RS simply can't reach on most tracks.
But if you actually enjoy driving, if you care about sound and feel and the satisfaction of carrying momentum through corners, the GT3 RS is the better car and it's not even a debate. I've got both. The GT3 RS gets driven every session. The GT2 RS comes out when I need to win something specific. Tells you everything tbh.
