Ferrari Enzo Tuning Guide — Best S1 Setup

The Enzo is one of those cars you sit in and instantly know it's not to be messed with. 6.0-liter V12, naturally aspirated, 660 hp, redline at 8,200 rpm. No turbos, no hybrid, no electronic nanny — just a V12 and your right foot with nothing in between. FH6 reproduces the Enzo's engine note brilliantly, from the deep rumble below 4,000 rpm to the shriek above 7,000 — every upshift feels like shoving the car at a wall. The F1-style sequential gearbox is addictive too: an upshift in 60 milliseconds, and you're already out of the corner while a same-era automatic is still deciding whether to downshift.
But the Enzo's problem is that it's just too raw. It's a 2002 car with essentially no stability control, RWD with a mid-mounted V12 — feed it throttle too early mid-corner and the rear axle passes the front. The core of tuning the Enzo is this: don't try to make it an easy car. Build a setup the Enzo can accept while keeping its character. It has to be hard to drive — but hard in a way that's consistent and predictable.

S1 with the stock 660 hp is where the flavor is. The Enzo was designed around 660 hp — the chassis, suspension, and aero were all developed for that number. Bumping it to S2 with 160 extra hp makes it faster in a straight line, but it ruins the V12's naturally aspirated linearity — the throttle starts to feel bloated. Personally I'd leave the Enzo in S1 and hand S2 duties to the FXX K or LaFerrari.
Tuning Parameters — Every Setting Explained
Tire Pressure
31.0 PSI front, 30.5 PSI rear. The mid-mounted engine puts close to 58% of the static weight on the rear axle, but under braking a huge amount of load shifts to the front. The front-to-rear pressure gap can't be too big — the fronts need enough support under braking, and the rears need maximum contact patch on corner exit.
Transmission
Final Drive Ratio: 3.55 (S1). The naturally aspirated V12 peaks at 7,800 rpm for power and 5,500 rpm for torque — completely different from a turbo, since the torque builds linearly and never suddenly erupts at a certain rpm. Keep the gearing short and tight so the revs stay between 5,500 and 8,200. Exit a corner below 5,000 rpm and you'll want to die — the V12's low-end torque isn't bad, but compared to the top end it's a dead pond.
Alignment
Camber: -2.5 front, -2.0 rear. The Enzo's pushrod suspension geometry is reproduced in FH6, and the front wheels gain a lot of camber under compression, so static camber doesn't need to be extreme. Toe: 0.0 front, 0.2 in rear — rear toe-in is the baseline that keeps a V12 RWD car from swapping ends under braking. Caster: 7.8; the Enzo runs high caster from the factory.
Anti-Roll Bars
32.0 front, 28.0 rear. The Enzo's chassis is extremely stiff, so the bars don't need to be huge to compensate for body twist. The 32 front bar controls nose roll on entry, and the 28 rear bar keeps some rear-axle freedom. Past 30 on the rear bar and the car suddenly loses rear grip mid-corner — and "suddenly" is the last thing you want in an Enzo.
Springs
750 lb/in front, 700 lb/in rear. Pushrod suspension is more efficient than a conventional MacPherson strut, so the actual wheel rate is much higher than these numbers suggest. Don't look at 750 and assume it's soft — the Enzo's suspension geometry means it doesn't need especially stiff springs to hold its attitude. Ride height: lower 0.8 inch; the stock height is already well set.
Damping
Rebound: 9.0 front, 8.5 rear. Bump: 5.5 front, 5.0 rear. The Enzo's damping is stiffer than the original F50 but still keeps its road-car bloodline. This setup suits the track — mid-corner body control is superb. For mixed street/track use, drop everything by 1.5, otherwise bumpy roads will shake you until you want to file a complaint with Ferrari.
Aero
The Enzo's stock aero was already very advanced — front diffuser, flat floor, active rear spoiler. In S1, run the rear spoiler at 65% downforce. The active aero is simulated passively in FH6, so you don't need to adjust it by hand. Too much wing downforce drags the top speed; too little leaves the rear axle nervous in high-speed corners.
Brakes
Balance: 55% front, Pressure: 115%. Carbon-ceramic brakes on a 1,365 kg body — braking performance is one of the Enzo's biggest strengths. But until the discs come up to temperature, they only work at about half strength — don't get aggressive in the first two laps.
Differential
Accel: 70%, Decel: 40%. The Enzo had an electronically controlled locking diff from the factory, simplified in FH6 to an open diff plus tuning. 70% accel lock lets both rear wheels put power down on corner exit, and 40% decel lock stabilizes the car under braking. Past 75% causes mid-corner understeer — and understeer in a mid-engined V12 is a miserable experience.

Common Tuning Mistakes
Tuning the Enzo like an AWD car. Can't fix the understeer, so you crank the rear anti-roll bar and rear camber — that flips the Enzo straight from understeer to oversteer with no transition in between. The Enzo wants a slightly understeery balance; dead-neutral in a mid-engined V12 RWD is the edge of losing control.
Gearing too tall. On a turbo engine you can stretch the gearing, but a naturally aspirated V12 builds its torque with revs — exit a corner in 2nd at 4,000 rpm and floor it, and the Enzo will chug along like a normal sedan. Keep the gearing tight.
Ignoring tire warm-up. The Enzo's tires need two laps to reach working temperature. Treat the first lap like you're walking the dog — don't rush it. After two laps there's an obvious step change in grip.
