The Raptor R is Ford's answer to a question nobody asked — "what if we stuffed a Shelby GT500's 5.2-liter supercharged V8 into an off-road pickup?" The result is 700 hp, 2.69 tons, four 37-inch off-road tires, and FOX long-travel suspension. On pavement, hitting the throttle feels like this — the engine screams out 700 hp, the nose lifts way up, and then you wait a second or two for this near-three-ton steel monster to slowly gather itself.

Don't get me wrong, this thing was never built for corners. The Raptor R is the purest off-road machine in FH6 — dunes, mud, gravel, jumps, water crossings, that's its stage. AWD with long-travel suspension and a 700 hp supercharged V8 just steamrolls everything else out in the wild. That said, if you insist on running it on pavement, this guide will show you how to tune it — just don't forget what it's for.

A-class with the stock 700 hp is the only build that makes sense. This truck doesn't need engine work — 700 hp is already more than 2.69 tons knows what to do with. That 5.5 handling rating is the lowest in this whole guide, but the number doesn't apply off-road — off-road handling feel lives in a completely different dimension from pavement.

Tuning Parameters — Every Setting Explained

Tire Pressure

Off-road: 26.0 PSI front, 25.0 PSI rear. Pavement: 34.0 PSI front, 32.0 PSI rear. Off-road you run ultra-low pressure to maximize the contact patch — a 37-inch off-road tire's footprint grows massively at low pressure. On pavement, go back to normal pressure, otherwise the sidewalls don't have enough support and steering response feels like a slow-motion replay.

Transmission

Final Drive Ratio: 4.10 (A-class). The Raptor R's 10-speed auto is decent in FH6. A 4.10 final drive keeps the low-speed climbing ability you need off-road, plus it compensates torque for those big 37-inch wheels. For pavement you could drop to 3.73 to buy a bit of top speed, but it's not worth much — aerodynamic drag is the real ceiling on this truck's top speed.

Alignment

Off-road: Camber -1.0 front, -0.5 rear; Toe 0.0 front, 0.0 rear. Pavement: Camber -1.5 front, -0.8 rear; Toe 0.0 front, 0.1 in rear. Off-road you barely need camber — at low speed on low grip the tires barely lean over. On pavement, a modest amount of camber helps cornering attitude. Caster: 5.5 — a tall body can't run much caster.

Anti-Roll Bars

Off-road: 24.0 front, 20.0 rear. Pavement: 32.0 front, 26.0 rear. Off-road you run both bars as soft as they'll go — the long-travel suspension needs freedom to soak up terrain. On pavement you go much stiffer — this thing rolls so hard in corners you'd swear it's about to tip over.

Springs

Off-road: 450 lb/in front, 380 lb/in rear. Pavement: 600 lb/in front, 500 lb/in rear. Off-road, soft springs let the FOX shocks do their job — 2.69 tons needs plenty of travel to absorb the hit when it lands. On pavement, stiffer springs control body attitude — but don't go too stiff; a pickup's chassis geometry means it'll never sit low like a sports car.

Damping

Off-road: Rebound 5.5 front, 5.0 rear; Bump 3.5 front, 3.0 rear. Pavement: Rebound 7.5 front, 7.0 rear; Bump 5.0 front, 4.5 rear. Off-road damping has to be soft — when you land a jump, too much Bump sends a hard shudder through the whole body and the ride is miserable. On pavement, stiffer Rebound controls body roll.

Aero

The Raptor R's aerodynamics are like a refrigerator standing on end. Any aero part you bolt on is a drop in the bucket against a drag coefficient like this. Don't waste your time — above 250 km/h, the behavior is basically decided by the tires and the road surface.

Brakes

Balance: 58% front, Pressure: 120%. 2,690 kg — that number means you start braking the moment you see a corner marker. The 58% front balance is because the front axle takes nearly all the load under braking. 120% pressure is the floor. Don't hesitate in the braking zone — this truck's stopping distance is 50% longer than a normal car, and a second of hesitation is a crash.

Differential

Off-road: Center 50:50, Front Accel 40% / Decel 25%, Rear Accel 55% / Decel 30%. Pavement: Center 60% rearward, Front Accel 30% / Decel 15%, Rear Accel 65% / Decel 35%. Off-road you keep it balanced front-to-rear — on loose ground you need every wheel working, and a rear bias just digs the rears into the soft stuff. On pavement, a rear bias improves turn-in a little.

Common Tuning Mistakes

Mixing off-road and pavement setups. This is even more extreme than the split you need on the Escort Cosworth. Off-road means low tire pressure, soft springs, soft damping; pavement means high tire pressure, stiff springs, stiff anti-roll bars. Mix them up and you'll do neither well.

Ignoring braking distance on the pavement setup. 2,690 kg gives you the longest stopping distance you've ever seen. Brake early, brake decisively, and don't tailgate. Following an AI opponent in FH6 is basically self-destruction.

Springs too stiff on the off-road setup. A lot of people think off-road needs a stiff suspension — actually you want long travel and soft springs so the wheels follow the ground. Stiff springs just make the wheels bounce and lose contact, which makes you slower.
