FH6 Festival Playlist Complete Guide — How to Max Out Every Season
The Festival Playlist is Forza Horizon 6's seasonal content system, and if you ignore it you're leaving free cars on the table. Every week there are new challenges, and every month there's a series reward car that you can't get anywhere else. I missed the Series 2 reward car because I didn't understand how the point system worked and I've been annoyed about it ever since. Here's exactly how it all works so you don't make the same mistake.
Each Festival Playlist series runs for 4 weeks, following the in-game season cycle: Spring → Summer → Autumn → Winter. One real-world week equals one in-game season. When the season changes (Thursday at 7:30 AM PT / 2:30 PM UTC), the weekly challenge cards reset. The monthly challenges — Monthly Rivals and the Series point total — persist across all 4 weeks. If you only play on weekends, you need to be efficient. If you play daily, you can clear everything in about 3 hours per week.
The Festival Playlist Point System — Exactly How Much You Need
Each activity on the playlist card is worth a specific number of points. The point thresholds for rewards are always the same, which means you can plan exactly which activities to skip. Here's the breakdown:
| Activity | Points | Time (min) | Online? | Worth it? |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| The Trial | 10 | 15-20 | Yes | Always |
| Seasonal Championship | 5 each | 10-12 | No | Yes |
| PR Stunt (Speed Trap / Danger Sign / Drift Zone / Speed Zone) | 2 each | 2-5 | No | Always |
| Weekly Forzathon Challenge | 2 | 10-15 | No | Yes |
| Photo Challenge | 2 | 1-2 | No | Free points |
| Treasure Hunt | 2 | 2-5 | No | Free points |
| Horizon Open | 5 | 15-30 | Yes | Skip if you hate PvP |
| Playground Games | 5 | 10-15 | Yes | Fun, but skippable |
| EventLab | 3 | 5-10 | No | Depends on track quality |
| Monthly Rivals | 4 | 5-10 | No | Easy 4 pts toward series |
The total available points each week is usually around 65-70. You need 20 for the first reward and 40 for the second (usually the better car). That means you can skip roughly one-third of the activities and still get everything. The weekly Forzathon car requirement is listed on the playlist card — you need to own and drive that specific car for the 4-step challenge chain. If you don't own it, check the Autoshow first; it's almost always a purchaseable car, not a rare one.
Seasonal Reward Tiers — What You're Actually Grinding For
Here's what you get at each point threshold, and more importantly, which thresholds are worth hitting:
- 20 points (weekly): Usually a Super Wheelspin, a clothing item, or a car horn. Nice but not game-changing. Do not grind for this alone.
- 40 points (weekly): This is the target. Almost always a rare or exclusive car — sometimes a returning seasonal car from a previous series, sometimes a brand-new exclusive. These cars typically sell for 5-20 million CR on the Auction House within a week of the season ending, so even if you don't want the car, you want the credits.
- 80+ points (weekly): A second car or an ultra-rare item. Requires nearly 100% completion. I hit this maybe once a month when I really want the car. Not worth the time investment for most players.
- 160 points (monthly series): The big one. 40 points per week × 4 weeks. This unlocks the series reward car, which is always something special — past series rewards have included the Ferrari FXX-K Evo, the Rimac Nevera, and the McLaren F1. Once a series ends, these cars are gone and their Auction House prices spike within 48 hours.
I keep a note on my phone with the current season's reward cars and their Auction House prices from the previous series. If a car I already own is worth 12 million CR in the current season as a reward, I sell mine before Thursday and grind the playlist to get it back for free. That's 12 million profit for about 3 hours of driving. Better CR/hour than any credit farming method in the game.
Strategy — The Fastest Path to 40 Points Every Week
Here's the exact order I follow every Thursday when the playlist resets. Total time: about 90 minutes to hit 40 points.
- Photo Challenge (2 pts, 1 min) — Look at the requirement, fast travel to the location, snap the photo. Done before you even finish your coffee.
- Treasure Hunt (2 pts, 3 min) — The clue is usually obvious. Drive to the pink circle on the map, find the chest. If you're stuck, the treasure chest appears on the interactive map once you're within 200 meters.
- PR Stunts (8 pts total, 15 min) — Four PR stunts at 2 pts each. Most can be done with whatever S2 car you have favorited. Speed traps and danger signs are the fastest; drift zones take a bit more finesse. If a speed zone is giving you trouble, approach it from the downhill side.
- Trial (10 pts, 15 min) — Queue this early in the week when good players are still running it. If you wait until Wednesday, you'll be matched with people who've been failing it all week. The Trial is co-op: your team of 6 humans races against 6 unbeatable AI. You don't need to finish first; your team just needs more points than the AI team across 3 races. Don't ram your teammates. Please.
- Seasonal Championships (15 pts, 30 min) — Three championships, 3 races each, 5 pts per championship win. These are solo vs highly-skilled AI. Use the car restrictions as a fun constraint, not an annoyance. The AI cheats less in FH6 than in FH5, so a properly tuned car at the top of the class limit will win every race.
- Weekly Forzathon (2 pts, 10 min) — Four chapter challenges using the specified car. Usually: own and drive the car → do something specific like earn skill points or win a race → do another thing → do the final thing. Complete chapters in order; they don't track simultaneously.
That's 37 points in about 75 minutes. Monthly Rivals (4 pts, one clean lap) pushes you to 41. Done. You've got both weekly reward cars and you're on track for the monthly series reward.
Forzathon Shop Strategy — What to Buy and What to Skip
The Forzathon Shop refreshes every week alongside the playlist. You spend Forzathon Points — earned from the Weekly Forzathon Challenge, Horizon Arcade events, and random live events — to buy cars, cosmetics, and wheelspins. Here's what matters:
Buy immediately: Any car that says "Exclusive" or "Hard-to-Find" in its description. These are often the only way to get specific cars outside of the Auction House. Even if you don't want the car, exclusive shop cars typically resell for 2-5 million CR on the Auction House within a month of leaving the shop. Buy two if you can afford it — one to keep, one to flip.
Consider buying: Super Wheelspins at 150 FP. The expected value of a Super Wheelspin is roughly 75,000 CR plus a small chance at a rare car, which isn't great, but if you're sitting on 2,000+ FP with nothing else to buy, it's the only sink. Regular Wheelspins at 40 FP are worse value — skip them.
Never buy: Clothing items, horns, emotes. Waste of FP. You get dozens of these from regular wheelspins anyway.
Accumulate FP by doing Horizon Arcade events whenever you see them pop up. They take 5-10 minutes, you can do them solo or with random players, and each one drops 20-60 FP depending on how many rounds you complete. Arcade Drift is the easiest to solo; Arcade Speed is the fastest with a group.
Season Change Timing — When to Log In
The season changes every Thursday at 7:30 AM Pacific / 10:30 AM Eastern / 2:30 PM UTC. The new playlist goes live at this exact moment. If you play on Xbox or PS5, the update downloads automatically. On PC, you might need to restart the game if you left it running.
Seasonal car prices on the Auction House spike in the first 2 hours after a season change because people want the new reward cars immediately. If you held onto last season's reward car and want maximum profit, list it between 8:00 AM and 10:00 AM PT on Thursday — that's when the most buyers are active and the fewest sellers have listed. I've sold seasonal cars for 40% above the typical price just by timing the listing right.
If you miss a season entirely due to travel or life, you can sometimes buy the reward car from the Forzathon Shop 4-6 weeks later, but there's no guarantee. The Auction House is your backup plan, and prices settle about 2 weeks after a car's season ends. Buy then, not during the price spike.
