Country: Germany | Founded: 1916 Three cars, you get the idea, three completely different philosophies wearing the same roundel. That's the BMW lineup in FH6 and it's more interesting than it looks on paper. Honestly, The M5 CS at PI 800 is the four-door missile. All-wheel drive. Twin-turbo V8. Seats five but thinks it's a supercar. But the M4 Competition at PI 790 is the coupe purist's choice, front-mid engine with a rear-drive bias that makes it the most traditional M car of the three. And then there's the M3 GTR at PI 845, the S1-class legend from 2002 with a naturally aspirated V8 that screams to 8,000 RPM and a racing pedigree that made it famous long before Forza existed, and all that. I've run all three through every track type FH6 throws at you and each one asks something different from the driver. That variety is the real value here.

Playground Games may expand the lineup through seasonal content, but this trio already gives you a tool for nearly every paved event in the game.

Driving Characteristics

BMWs have a reputation for balance and the FH6 versions deliver on it. But "balance" means different things across these three cars and that's what makes the brand interesting to drive back to back. And the M4 Competition is the textbook BMW experience. Front-mid engine. Near-perfect weight distribution. The chassis rotates around your hip and the steering tells you exactly what the front tires are doing at every degree of lock. So it\'s the easiest of the three to drive fast and perhaps the hardest to find an excuse not to drive. The M5 CS is a physics problem solved with engineering. Four doors. All-wheel drive. Enough weight to anchor a small boat, and yet it handles like a car two classes lighter. The rear-biased AWD system lets you rotate the car with the throttle in a way no sedan this size should be able to. Corner exit traction is absurd. The twin-turbo V8 pulls from 2,000 RPM all the way to redline without a flat spot and the ZF eight-speed snaps off shifts that feel faster than most dual-clutch boxes. The downside? You feel the mass under hard braking and quick direction changes. Physics doesn't care about your engineering budget.

And then there's the M3 GTR, this one is different. No turbochargers. No all-wheel drive. So rear seats. Just a naturally aspirated 4.0-liter V8, a sequential gearbox, and a racing chassis tuned for the Nurburgring. The engine note alone is worth the price of admission. A mechanical howl that builds from a growl at 4,000 RPM to a metallic scream at 8,000. But here's the catch. The M3 GTR is the least forgiving BMW in the game. The rear end steps out under power in second and third gear, so brakes need a full lap to come up to temperature. And the suspension is set up for a racetrack, not FH6's bumpy Mexican road. It's the, fr. hardest BMW to extract lap time from, and the most rewarding when you do.

The common thread across all three is steering feel, bMW's steering tuning in FH6 is among the best in the game. The wheel gets lighter as front grip fades and heavier as the tires load up mid-corner. It's not flashy. But it's information the faster cars in other brands sometimes filter out. Learn to read it and your braking points get more consistent across all three cars, tire compound matters almost as much here as it does on the Porsches. Softer rubber transforms the M5 CS's corner entry. Harder compounds keep the M3 GTR's rear tires alive through a full race distance. Pick the compound for the track and the car will tell you if you got it wrong within two corners.

Best Events

BMWs live on road racing circuits, coastal Highway is the standout track for all three cars. Long sweepers that reward the chassis balance and enough straightaway to let the engines stretch their legs. The M4 Competition in particular is a menace on this layout. It carries speed through the mid-corner phase better than anything else in its PI bracket and the exit traction from the rear-drive setup gives you a car length on every corner exit against AWD competitors.

Tbh the M5 CS owns the Mountain Pass circuit, all-wheel drive puts the power down on the off-camber exits. The long straight into turn one gives the V8 room to breathe. And the heavy braking zone into the hairpin is where the big sedan's stability under deceleration becomes an advantage instead of something you're managing. Street scene events work too. BMW's acceleration out of slow corners is a weapon when you're threading through traffic and need to punch through gaps between AI cars.

The M3 GTR is a different animal entirely, it wants circuits with medium to high-speed corners and smooth surfaces. Guanajuato's tighter sections expose the stiff suspension setup. But on flowing tracks with long radius corners the race car DNA takes over and the car settles into a rhythm that nothing else in S1 can match for sheer engagement. Drag racing at the festival strip is decent territory for the M5 CS but the others aren't built for it. Dirt and cross-country.

Skip them. BMW's off-road grip numbers are terrible and even with rally suspension the cars sit too low and bottom out on every jump. The M5 CS with rally tires is almost passable but "almost passable" in cross-country means finishing midfield at best. Keep these cars on pavement. That's where the engineering works.

Tuning Guide

BMW tuning starts with the same principle as Porsche tuning, the factory setup is already good. Your job is to remove the compromises BMW made for real-world comfort and legality, not to rebuild the car from scratch. The biggest gains come from tire pressures, differential settings, and final drive ratio. Everything else is seasoning.

Tire Pressure

Drop 2 PSI front and rear from stock for technical circuits, the extra contact patch improves turn-in bite and the car tracks more predictably through mid-corner. Bump it up 1 PSI for high-speed tracks where rolling resistance matters more than peak grip. The M3 GTR in particular responds dramatically to pressure changes. Its stiff suspension already limits mechanical grip and the right tire pressure is the difference between a planted rear end and a spin on corner exit.

Suspension

Stock BMW springs are calibrated for German roads, fH6's Mexican asphalt is rougher. Soften by 8 to 10 percent across the board and the car settles over bumps without losing meaningful responsiveness. For the M4 Competition specifically: stiffen the front anti-roll bar one click, soften the rear one click. This kills the mild understeer on corner entry and lets the rear rotate under trail braking. The M5 CS needs the opposite treatment, softer front bar, stiffer rear bar. The AWD system already pushes the front wide on corner exit and the bar adjustment neutralizes that tendency.

Differential

M5 CS (AWD): center diff at 70 percent rear bias, m4 Competition (RWD): acceleration lock at 80 percent, deceleration at 15 percent. M3 GTR (RWD): acceleration lock at 70 percent, deceleration at 25 percent. The M3 GTR needs more deceleration lock because its lighter rear end gets unsettled under hard braking into downhill corners. More lock stabilizes the rear without sacrificing the rotation you get on throttle. Dial in the diff before you touch anything else on the M3 GTR, the baseline setup is too aggressive off-throttle and too conservative on-throttle.

Gearing

The single biggest lever for BMW lap times and the one most drivers never touch, stock BMW gear ratios are built for Autobahn cruising. FH6 tracks have short straights and tight corners. Shorten the final drive by 10 to 15 percent from stock on all three cars. The M5 CS gains the most from this. Its eight-speed gearbox has closely stacked ratios and the shorter final drive puts every gear in the right part of the power band for FH6's corner exit speeds. The M3 GTR's sequential box has wider ratios so the same change matters less, but the improved acceleration out of hairpins is still worth the adjustment.

Brakes

Race brakes before horsepower. Every time. The M5 CS is the heaviest car in the lineup and the stock brakes fade noticeably after three hard laps. Race-spec stoppers eliminate that fade and let you brake 10 meters deeper into every corner. That compounds across a full lap into real time savings, braking performance is a handling upgrade disguised as a stop part. Treat it that way.

Rival Comparison

BMW and Mercedes are the two German rivals that define the FH6 street car experience and they approach speed from opposite directions. The AMG GT Black Series is a single-car lineup built around one relentless track weapon. BMW spreads the same engineering budget across three cars with three distinct purposes. If you want one tool that does one thing at the absolute limit, the Black Series at PI 875 is the sharper instrument. But if you want variety and the ability to pick a different driving experience for different tracks, BMW's three-car bench is the more interesting garage.

The real comparison is BMW versus Porsche. Both German. Both obsessed with driving dynamics. But the fundamental architecture is different. Porsche puts the engine behind the rear axle and uses that weight for corner exit traction. BMW puts the engine in front and chases perfect balance. The Porsches give up corner entry composure and claw it back on exit. The BMWs are more settled on turn-in and less dramatic on exit. Neither approach is better. They're different flavors of fast and the only way to know which one clicks is to run the same track back to back with both brands. The clock doesn't lie even when your preferences do.

Collection Guide

Collecting all three BMWs is simpler than it sounds, two of the three are available through the Autoshow for credits. Buy them and you're two-thirds done. The M3 GTR is the bottleneck. It's a wheelspin-exclusive car and there's no guaranteed method to pull a specific vehicle from wheelspins. I've burned through millions of credits trying and the results are random enough to make the exercise feel like gambling with worse odds. The auction house is the smarter path for the M3 GTR. Check it on weekends when more listings are active and prices tend to dip. Seasonal rotations through the festival playlist are the other entry point. When the M3 GTR appears as a seasonal reward, get it that week, miss the window and you risk waiting months for the next rotation. That's not speculation. That's watching auction house prices spike every time a season ends without the car. Set an in-game reminder. Auction house sniping, seasonal completions, wheelspin luck, that's the full collection toolkit and I've used all three.

Common Tuning Mistakes

Power before handling. It's the #1 mistake with BMW tunes and it ruins the best thing about these cars. The chassis is what makes a BMW fast. Throw 1,500 horsepower at an M4 Competition without upgrading the tires and suspension first and you've turned a surgical instrument into a burnout machine that can't put power down through any gear. Traction is the actual bottleneck for lap times, bMW needs proper tire and suspension work before you even think about power upgrades.

Suspension slammed to the ground, everyone does it because it looks good, and it destroys the handling. BMW's suspension geometry is designed around a specific ride height range. Drop it too low and the roll center goes haywire, the car bounces off bump stops mid-corner, and every surface change becomes a handling event instead of background noise. Lower it by an inch at most. Any more and you're fighting the car instead of driving it, skipping weight reduction on the M5 CS. This car starts heavy and every kilo removed makes every other upgrade work better. The build order that actually produces fast cars: handling mods first, weight reduction second, and power dead last. Brakes belong in the handling bucket. The stopwatch confirms this order every single time and so does the leaderboard.
