FH6 Skill Points: Best Cars for Farming & Perk Trees

What Are Skill Points?

Skill Points (SP) are a currency in Forza Horizon 6 earned by accumulating Skill Score during driving. Each 100,000 Skill Score earned gives you one Skill Point. You can spend Skill Points on Car Mastery perks — unique upgrade trees for each vehicle that provide permanent bonuses including credits, Wheelspins, XP boosts, and even rare cars.

Skill Points are shared across your entire garage. When you earn a Skill Point, it goes into your global pool and can be spent on any car's mastery tree regardless of which car you were driving when you earned it.

How Skill Chains Work

Skill Chains are the core mechanic for building Skill Score. When you perform consecutive skill actions — drifting, near misses, speed passes, air time, and combos — the game tracks your "chain" with a visible multiplier in the top-right corner of the screen. Each unique skill type adds to the chain multiplier.

Skill ActionBase ScoreNotes
Drift (per 50m)500Longer continuous drifts score more. Use a RWD car for best results.
Near Miss250Pass within 1 meter of traffic or other players.
Air Time (per 0.5s)300Both wheels off the ground. Longer air time multiplies the score.
Wreckage (per car)1,000Hitting destructible objects like fences, signs, and barriers.
Speed Pass500Pass traffic at high speed with proximity.
Combo SkillVariesCombining two or more skill types simultaneously (e.g., drifting while airborne).
Chain Completion Bonus10,000Banking your skill chain awards this bonus on top of accumulated score.

Skill Score Multipliers

The multiplier increases as you stack different skill types. The maximum multiplier in FH6 is 10.0x. Here is how the multiplier scales:

To reach the 10.0x cap, you need to chain together drifting, near misses, air time, wreckage, speed passes, and at least one combo skill. The most reliable way is to find a dense area with traffic, destructible fences, and small hills or bumps that let you catch air.

Best Cars for Skill Point Farming

Not all cars are created equal when it comes to skill farming. The best skill farming cars share three traits: they are lightweight, have good handling for chaining drifts, and have Car Mastery trees that include Skill Song bonuses or increased Skill Score.

1. 1998 Toyota Supra RZ (Best All-Rounder)

The Supra RZ is widely considered the best skill farming car in FH6. Its mastery tree includes a "Skill Song" perk that doubles all Skill Score for 60 seconds when activated, and it handles predictably at moderate speeds. Build it with drift suspension and sport tires at A 800, then farm points on the airport runway or any large open area.

2. 2010 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor

Surprisingly effective due to its long body and easy-to-control slides. The Crown Vic has massive Skill Score bonuses in its mastery tree, including +25% Skill Score from near misses. Use it on highway interchanges for high-density near miss chains.

3. 2005 Mazda RX-7 (Rotary Power)

The RX-7 is lightweight and has one of the best handling models in the game for chaining drifts at medium speed. Its mastery tree offers multiple Forza Edition ticket perks that pay out Wheelspins, making it a dual-purpose farming car for both Skill Points and rewards.

4. Forza Edition Cars with "Skill Boost" Perks

Several Forza Edition cars have a built-in perk that increases all Skill Score by a percentage. Notable examples include:

Best Farming Locations

Airport Runway (Playa Azul)

The most popular skill farming location. The long runway lets you build speed and chain drifts at high velocity. There are also small runway lights and signs to destroy for wreckage points. The lack of traffic makes this easier for beginners but caps your multiplier at lower levels since near misses are scarce.

Highway Interchange (Puerto Nuevo)

The spaghetti junction of highways near Puerto Nuevo is the best location for near miss chains. AI traffic density is highest here. Drive against traffic flow and weave between cars at 150+ mph while drifting through the curves. This location easily hits 7.0x-10.0x multipliers.

Casino del Valle Parking Lot

The massive parking structure near the casino has multiple levels, traffic, and destructible barriers. The concrete pillars force you to chain near misses while drifting. Perfect for reaching 10.0x multiplier in under 60 seconds.

Car Mastery Perk Trees Explained

Each car has its own mastery tree that can be viewed in the Garage. The tree typically contains 12-20 perks organized in a branching structure. Perks require 1-5 Skill Points each. Common perk types include:

Perk Strategy: Which to Unlock First

For a new player with limited Skill Points, prioritize these perks in order:

  1. Fast Travel Discount on any car that offers it — this saves millions of credits over your playthrough.
  2. Wheelspin / Super Wheelspin perks on cheap cars (Autoshow price under 50k credits). These pay for themselves quickly.
  3. Skill Score Boost on your farming car to accelerate future Skill Point earning.
  4. Credits Boost on every car you drive regularly — they are usually 1 point each and provide immediate value.

Efficient Skill Point Farming Route

Here is a repeatable farming loop that yields 5-10 Skill Points per hour:

  1. Equip your skill farming car (Toyota Supra RZ recommended).
  2. Fast travel to Puerto Nuevo highway interchange.
  3. Drive against traffic at ~120 mph, chaining near misses and drifts.
  4. Incorporate small jumps over highway dividers to add air time.
  5. Maintain a 7.0x-10.0x multiplier for 2-3 minutes.
  6. Bank the chain before crashing (tap the Chain Completion button or slow down safely).
  7. Repeat. Each 2-3 minute run at 10.0x yields roughly 200,000-300,000 Skill Score, netting 2-3 Skill Points.

With Skill Song activated, you can double your output during the 60-second window. Use it at the start of a run when you have the cleanest streak.
