FH6 Treasure Hunt Guide — Find Every Treasure Chest

Applies to: All treasure hunts (base game + seasonal) | Covers: Clue system, map locations, rewards, timing | Total base game treasures: 15 | Seasonal per series: 2–4 | Updated: Season 4

FH6 treasure hunts are the closest thing the game has to an ARG. A cryptic clue appears on the map. A red circle narrows the search to roughly a square mile. Inside that circle, somewhere, is a chest containing credits, cars, wheelspins, or cosmetics. The clues range from obvious ("find the tallest structure in the jungle") to maddeningly vague ("where the water runs dry, look below the old guard"). This guide decodes every clue and pinpoints every location.

How Treasure Hunts Work — The Clue System

Treasure hunts appear in two forms: base game hunts unlocked through overall game progression (XP level, story completion, accolades), and seasonal hunts tied to the Festival Playlist. When a treasure hunt activates, you get a clue card with an image or text hint, and a red search circle appears on the world map. The chest is always within the red circle. The circle radius is roughly 0.5 to 1.0 miles depending on the clue difficulty. Some seasonal hunts also require you to first complete a specific challenge (e.g., "earn 3 stars at a speed trap in a Ford") before the red circle even appears.

Once you're inside the red circle, switch to drone mode (pause menu > Creative > Drone Mode). The drone flies faster than any car, clips through trees, and lets you scan the terrain from above. The treasure chest model is distinctive — a wooden crate with a gold latch and the Horizon Festival logo, roughly the size of a small car. It's visible from drone altitude. When you find it, mark it (press X on Xbox / R on PC while looking at it in drone mode), exit drone mode, and drive to the marker. Interact to claim the reward.

Seasonal Treasure Hunts — Schedule and Strategy

Each Series (4 weeks, aligned to real-world months) adds 2 to 4 new seasonal treasure hunts. These are separate from the base game 15. They appear in the Festival Playlist and are only available during their active week. Miss the week, miss the chest permanently — unlike base game treasures, seasonal ones don't persist.

Seasonal clues tend to be more elaborate than base game clues. They often involve a two-step process: first complete a specific challenge (e.g., "win a road race in a Retro Supercar"), which reveals the red circle, then find the chest within the circle. The challenge is usually straightforward, but the chest locations are chosen to be more hidden than base game ones — inside buildings, under dense foliage, in underwater caves.

Season 4 treasures (active during this guide): "Thunder Valley" (speed trap challenge → canyon chest), "Lunar Falls" (drift zone challenge → waterfall chest), "Electric Dreams" (EV racing challenge → dam chest). Check the current Festival Playlist page for live Seasonal treasure details.

Tips for Decoding Vague Clues

Hardest Treasure Hunts and Their Solutions

Sunken Treasure (#9) — The chest is underwater. The red circle is half-ocean, which means you're searching the seafloor. Switch to the drone and fly it underwater (yes, the drone works underwater in FH6). Scan for the wooden crate model against the sandy/rocky seafloor. It's at the base of a submerged stone pillar about 30 meters offshore from Tulum.

Stadium Secret (#12) — The stadium tunnel entrance looks like a wall. From outside the stadium on the south side, look for a set of bleacher stairs. Walk behind them — there's a maintenance door that leads to the tunnel. The door has no prompt; you just walk through it. The chest is in the exact center of the stadium, underground.

Desert Mirage (#10) — The clue says "the old road ends." The issue: there are three roads that dead-end in the desert. The correct one is the longest dirt road coming from the west — follow it east until it stops at the dry riverbed. The lone dead tree is easy to miss because there are several dead trees in the area. The correct one is the only tree directly east of the road's end, not north or south.

Is Treasure Hunting Worth the Time? — Credit Value Analysis

The 15 base game treasures give a combined total of 1,925,000 credits, 6 cars (market value: ~2,100,000 CR), 8 Super Wheelspins (~400,000 CR in average drops), and 7 Common Wheelspins (~70,000 CR). Total estimated value: ~4,500,000 credits.

Time to complete all 15 with this guide: 2–3 hours. That's an hourly rate of roughly 1.5–2.25 million credits per hour — competitive with the best credit farming methods in the game, plus you get cars that can't be bought from the Autoshow. The McLaren F1 alone is worth 2+ hours of treasure hunting. Verdict: absolutely worth it. Do the treasure hunts. Don't skip them.
