The Titan is the longest cross country race in Forza Horizon 6 — a brutal, roughly 50-kilometer off-road endurance test that throws everything the Mexican wilderness has at you. Unlike the Goliath and Colossus, there's no tarmac here. The Titan is pure dirt, mud, sand, rock, and water from start to finish. You'll crash through river crossings that drown your engine if you take the wrong line, launch off massive jumps where the landing determines whether you keep racing or restart, and weave through rock gardens that punish any lapse in concentration. It's the most physically demanding race in FH6 — not for the car, for the driver. After a clean Titan lap, your hands know you've been working.
I've run the Titan in everything from trophy trucks to rally cars to SUVs, and the car that wins isn't always the fastest — it's the one that survives. The Titan rewards consistency and line selection over raw speed. A clean lap in a slower car almost always beats a crash-filled lap in a faster one.
Titan Route Breakdown — Sector by Sector
The Titan runs a massive counter-clockwise loop across the roughest terrain on the FH6 map. Here's what you're facing in each sector:
Sector 1 — Desert Flats and Dunes (km 0-12): The race opens in open desert with rolling dunes and scattered rock outcroppings. Visibility is excellent but the terrain is deceptive. The sand looks smooth from a distance but is rippled with washboard bumps that rattle your suspension and upset the car at speed. Stay on the racing line — the dirt is more compacted there. The dunes launch you into the air; land with all four wheels straight and level, or you'll be pointing the wrong direction on touchdown. There's a particularly nasty dune at roughly km 8 that sends cars airborne for 80+ meters. Line up straight 100 meters before the lip, stay off the brakes in the air (it pitches the nose down), and be ready with counter-steer on landing.
Sector 2 — River Crossings and Mud (km 12-24): The middle sector drops into a river valley with multiple water crossings and thick mud sections. This is where the Titan separates the prepared from the unprepared. Water crossings slow the car dramatically — you lose roughly 40% of your speed hitting even shallow water, and deep water near the riverbanks can bring you to a near-stop. Stay to the center of marked crossing points where the water is shallowest. The mud sections between river crossings are heavy and energy-sapping; the car feels sluggish and unresponsive. Short-shift in the mud — revving high just spins the wheels without generating forward drive. The key to this sector is maintaining momentum through the slow sections rather than trying to attack them. You can't power through mud; you have to finesse through it.
Sector 3 — Rock Gardens and Hills (km 24-38): The Titan climbs into rocky highlands with exposed boulder fields and steep hill climbs. This is the most technically demanding sector because you're picking a line through rocks at speed. Commit to a line early and stick with it — weaving mid-rock-garden is how you clip a boulder and flip. The hill climbs are steep enough that underpowered cars struggle; you need good torque and short gearing to maintain momentum uphill on loose surfaces. The descent on the back side is equally tricky — downhill on loose dirt means braking distances are nearly double what they'd be on tarmac. There's a blind crest at roughly km 34 with a sharp left immediately after. Brake before the crest, not after — you can't stop on the downhill side.
Sector 4 — Grassland Sprint Home (km 38-50): The final sector opens into rolling grassland with gentle hills and fewer obstacles. This is the reward for surviving the first three sectors. The grass surface is relatively smooth and the corners are fast and flowing. You can finally stretch the car's legs and make up time here. The main hazard is a couple of hidden ditches that look like flat ground until you're airborne — watch for darker patches of grass that indicate depressions. The final 3 kilometers are essentially flat-out to the finish with wide, bankable corners.
Best Off-Road Cars for Titan
The Titan demands high ground clearance, soft suspension, off-road tires, and enough torque to push through mud and up steep hills. Here are the top picks per class:
S1 Class (900): Ford #2069 Bronco R — This purpose-built trophy truck dominates the Titan. Massive suspension travel absorbs everything, the V8 torque never runs out on hill climbs, and it's surprisingly stable in the air. Average clean lap: 9:20. Alternative: RJ Anderson #37 Pro 4 Truck — slightly less top speed, slightly better rock garden agility.
A Class (800): Toyota Land Cruiser Arctic Trucks AT37 — The AT37's high ride height, massive tires, and torquey diesel engine are built for exactly this race. It won't win drag races on the grassland sprint, but it walks through mud sections that stop other A-class cars. Average clean lap: 10:40. Alternative: Ford F-150 Raptor R — faster on the fast sections but heavier through the technical bits.
B Class (700): Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX with an off-road conversion — The Evo's rally heritage shines here. Lightweight, responsive, and the AWD system finds grip where there shouldn't be any. Average clean lap: 12:10. Alternative: Subaru WRX STI S209 with rally suspension and off-road tires.
C Class (600): Ford Bronco (2021) — The stock Bronco is surprisingly capable on the Titan with just off-road tires and a slight suspension lift. C Class Titan is slow but strategic — every line choice matters because you can't recover from mistakes with raw speed. Average clean lap: 14:20.
Titan Tuning — Survival Setup
The Titan demands a fundamentally different tune from road racing. You're not optimizing for lap time; you're optimizing for the car to survive 50 kilometers of abuse without flipping, drowning, or getting stuck. Here's the essential Titan tune:
Tires: Off-road tires are mandatory. Not rally, not rallycross — full off-road compound. The PI cost is worth every point when you're crossing mud and riverbeds. Tire pressure at 24-26 PSI — low pressure increases the contact patch on loose surfaces and helps the tire conform to rocks rather than bouncing off them. Drop rear pressure 1-2 PSI below the front for better traction out of muddy corners.
Suspension: This is where the Titan tune completely diverges from road setups. Springs at 4-6 kgf/mm — extremely soft. The soft springs absorb impacts from rocks, jumps, and washboard surfaces rather than transmitting them to the chassis. Ride height at maximum — you need every millimeter of clearance for the rock gardens and water crossings. If your car's underbody is scraping in the rock garden, you've bottomed out and lost all grip at that corner. Bump damping at 4.0, rebound at 7.0 — stiff rebound keeps the car from bouncing repeatedly after big hits. One big jump landing should settle in one oscillation, not three.
Gearing: Short final drive. The Titan has no long straights where top speed matters — you're accelerating out of slow corners, up hills, and through mud constantly. A short final drive (slide toward acceleration) gives you the torque multiplication to push through mud and climb hills without bogging down. Top speed target: roughly 260-280 km/h is all you need. Anything more is wasted PI.
Differential: High accel lock for off-road — 80-85% rear accel, 70% front accel on AWD setups. You need both axles clawing for grip in loose terrain. Decel lock at 15-20% — you want the rear to rotate slightly on corner entry off-road, not understeer straight into a rock.
Brakes: 50% bias (balanced), 100% pressure. Off-road braking is about modulation, not sheer stopping force. Too much pressure and the wheels lock instantly on loose dirt. Balanced bias keeps the car stable under braking on uneven terrain.
Jump and Hazard Techniques
Jumps are the Titan's signature feature, and landing wrong will end your race faster than any other mistake. Follow these rules:
- Line up straight before the lip. Any angle on takeoff is amplified on landing. A 5-degree tilt at launch becomes a 30-degree rotation by touchdown.
- Throttle in the air raises the nose, braking dips it. Use small throttle blips to level the car, not sustained input.
- Land on all four wheels simultaneously. Rear-first landings unsettle the car; nose-first landings break steering. Level flight is the only safe landing attitude.
- Water crossings: stay centered and steady. The marked crossing points have shallow water. Wandering to the edges finds deep water that stops you cold. Enter the water straight, maintain 60-70% throttle (not full — too much wheelspin loses traction), and steer gently.
- Rock gardens: pick a line and commit. Look 20-30 meters ahead, identify a gap through the rocks, and drive through it without hesitation. Second-guessing mid-rock-garden is how you clip a boulder.
Weather Impact — Rain on Dirt
Rain transforms the Titan from challenging to genuinely punishing. Wet dirt loses roughly 50% of its grip — corners that are flat-out in the dry become lift-and-pray in the wet. The river crossings rise slightly (deeper water), and the mud sections become swamp-like in their resistance. In wet conditions, drop your pace by 20-25% across the entire lap. Short-shift earlier, brake sooner, and be gentler on all inputs. The car that finishes a wet Titan is usually not the fastest — it's the one that never spun.
If you're running the Titan in rivals during rain, switch to rally tires instead of full off-road. Rally tires clear water better than off-road compound and the PI difference is minimal. It's one of the few off-road situations where rally tires outperform off-road tires, and it only applies when the surface is genuinely wet.
