FH6 Logitech G920 Wheel Settings Guide
The Logitech G920 is the most popular entry-level force feedback wheel for a reason — it's affordable, durable, and works on both Xbox and PC. But the out-of-the-box settings in Forza Horizon 6 are horrible. The wheel feels dead at center, the force feedback is either nonexistent or violently shaking, and the default rotation angle makes the car feel like a boat. After three weeks of tweaking, testing, and comparing notes with other G920 users in the FH6 community, here's what actually works.
The G920 uses a dual-motor gear-driven system. It's not direct drive, so there are limits to how much detail you'll feel. But with the right settings, you can get surprisingly good road feel — enough to catch slides before the visual cues kick in, and enough to know when your tires are about to let go. That's the difference between catching a drift and spinning into a wall.
G Hub Settings vs In-Game Settings — Do Both
This is the most common mistake I see. People adjust the in-game sliders and ignore Logitech G Hub, or vice versa. Both layers stack. G Hub controls what the motor hardware does at the driver level. The FH6 settings control how the game communicates with that hardware. If G Hub is set wrong, no amount of in-game tweaking will fix it. Set G Hub first, then the game.
In Logitech G Hub, create a profile specifically for Forza Horizon 6. Set Operating Range to 900 degrees. Sensitivity at 50 (neutral — let the game handle response curves). Centering Spring in non-force-feedback games doesn't matter for FH6 but set it to 10 so it doesn't interfere elsewhere. Check the box for "Centering Spring in Force Feedback Games" and leave it unchecked — FH6 manages its own centering forces, and the driver-level spring fights against it.
In-Game Wheel Settings — The Baseline Setup
Open Settings > Controls > Wheel in FH6. Here are the numbers that gave me the best results after testing across road racing, drifting, and off-road. This is the baseline. I'll give per-discipline tweaks after.
Vibration Scale: 0.5. This controls non-FFB vibration effects like engine rumble and surface noise. Higher and it muddies the real FFB signal. Lower and you lose some immersion but gain clarity. Force Feedback Scale: 0.65. This is the master gain for all FFB output. At 1.0 the G920 clips hard — the motors max out and everything above that threshold feels the same. At 0.65 you get the full dynamic range without losing detail. If the wheel feels too light, bump this to 0.75, but never past 0.85 on a G920. Center Spring Scale: 0.0. Set this to zero. It's an artificial centering force that fights against the real FFB. Zero lets the wheel return naturally based on tire forces. You'll feel the wheel go light when you lose grip — that's what you want. Wheel Damper Scale: 0.15. Adds a small amount of rotational resistance that simulates tire friction. Too much and the wheel feels sluggish. Too little and it twitches over every bump. 0.15 is the sweet spot for a gear-driven wheel. Steering Sensitivity: 0.5. Linear 1:1 mapping between your physical rotation and the in-game steering angle. Higher values make the car twitchier at center. The G920 is already a sensitive wheel so 0.5 gives you precision without nervousness. FFB Minimum Force: 0.8. The G920 has a known dead zone at center where the gears have slop. This setting boosts low-level forces to fill that gap. At 0.8, you'll feel subtle road texture instead of nothing. FFB Load Sensitivity: 0.3. Reduces FFB during high cornering loads so the wheel doesn't get absurdly heavy at speed. At 0.3 it stays communicative without becoming an arm workout. Road Feel Scale: 1.0. This is tire slip and surface detail. Max it out on a gear-driven wheel — you want every bit of information the motors can give you. Steering Linearity: 0.5. Keeps the steering ratio progressive. At center it's precise for small corrections. As you turn further the ratio increases so you don't need three full rotations to hit lock.
Rotation Angle: 540 degrees is what I run for most racing. 900 is the sim-racing standard but FH6 isn't a sim. The cars turn faster and the physics model expects quicker steering inputs. At 900 degrees you'll be hand-over-hand through tight corners and always a half-second late reacting to oversteer. 540 gives you enough precision for smooth cornering while keeping the car responsive. For drifting, 720 is better — gives you more angle control. For off-road, 540 all day. The loose surface demands fast corrections.
Pedal Settings — Fix the Dead Zones
The G920 pedals are the weak point of the kit. The brake pedal has a rubber block inside that makes the last 30% of travel absurdly stiff. In FH6 this translates to never actually reaching 100% brake pressure unless you stand on it. Fix: In the in-game advanced controls, set Brake Dead Zone Inside to 5 and Dead Zone Outside to 70. This means the game registers 100% braking when the pedal hits that rubber block instead of requiring you to crush through it. Much more consistent under trail braking.
For acceleration, Dead Zone Inside set to 3 and Outside to 95. The 3 inside eliminates the potentiometer jitter at rest. The 95 outside means you hit full throttle just before the pedal bottoms out — no need to mash it into the carpet. Clutch dead zone: inside 10, outside 90. The clutch throw is short and you don't need the full range.
Throttle and brake linearity at 40. This makes the initial pedal travel more gradual — helpful because the G920 pedals are light and it's easy to jab 50% throttle without meaning to. At 40, the first half of pedal movement ramps up smoothly, then the second half responds more aggressively where you actually want power.
Per-Discipline Adjustments
Road Racing (A-Class and above): Stick with the baseline. 540 rotation, FFB at 0.65, damper at 0.15. If you're driving high-downforce S2 cars on the Guanajuato circuit, bump FFB Scale to 0.75 — the tires generate more force and you want to feel it through the corners. Drop damper to 0.10 so the wheel doesn't feel heavy during direction changes.
Drifting: Rotation up to 720 degrees. This is non-negotiable. With 540, the car snaps back too fast when you let the wheel self-steer, and you end up sawing at it like a maniac. At 720 you get a smoother self-steer rate and more angle control. FFB Scale at 0.80 — when the rear breaks loose, you need to feel it immediately. Damper at 0.05 — you want the wheel as free as possible so it can spin in your hands. Center Spring stays at 0.0. Steering linearity at 0.65 so small movements at center don't upset the drift angle. FFB Load Sensitivity at 0.10 — you're not loading the front tires much while drifting, so you don't want the FFB to fade.
Off-Road / Cross Country: FFB Scale down to 0.50. Off-road surfaces generate constant vibration that can mask the real feedback signals — when the wheel is shaking non-stop, you stop feeling the difference between grip and slip. Lowering the master gain lets the meaningful forces stand out. Road Feel Scale at 0.70 for the same reason. Damper up to 0.30 — the extra resistance helps you muscle through rough terrain without the wheel getting ripped from your hands. Rotation at 540. You need quick corrections more than precision on dirt.

The quicker the steering ratio, the less likely you are to accidentally steer off line when correcting launch wheelspin. FFB minimal — 0.30 scale, 0.50 damper. You just need to feel the tire slip at launch, nothing else.
Common G920 Problems in FH6 and Quick Fixes
Wheel oscillates violently on straights — Center Spring Scale is probably above zero. Set it to 0.0. If it persists, drop FFB Minimum Force to 0.5 and Road Feel Scale to 0.70. The G920's gear slack can create a feedback loop where the motor corrects itself into oscillation.
No force feedback at all — Check G Hub is running. The G920 won't output FFB without the driver active. Also check the FH6 in-game FFB setting didn't glitch — the game occasionally resets FFB Scale to 0 after an update. Just reopen settings and reset it.
Pedals not registering correctly — In Windows, open Game Controllers, select the G920, and press Ctrl+Shift+A. This opens the combined pedals mode setting. Make sure it's unchecked — FH6 needs separate axis inputs for each pedal. If they're combined, the brake and throttle fight each other.
Wheel not centering after corners — This is usually the rotation angle mismatch. Make sure G Hub rotation (900) matches what FH6 expects. If you set 540 in FH6 but G Hub is at 360, the soft lock goes to the wrong position. Always set G Hub to the max you'll use (900) and let FH6 override it with the in-game setting.
If you're upgrading from a controller, expect a rough first week. Your lap times will be slower. You'll spin in corners you used to nail. That's normal. The wheel doesn't make you faster — it makes you more consistent once you adapt. Stick with it. After 20 hours, you'll wonder how you ever drove with a thumbstick.
