FH6 Online Racing Meta Guide — Best Cars & Builds for Every Class (July 2026)

The FH6 online racing meta isn't just about picking the fastest car. It's about maximizing performance within a PI (Performance Index) cap. Every upgrade costs PI points. The meta is the set of cars and builds that give you the most speed, grip, and consistency per PI point spent.
FH6 shifted the meta slightly from FH5. Tokyo's tighter, more technical roads reward handling builds more than FH5's open Mexican highways did. Power builds that dominated in FH5 — massive horsepower, minimal handling — get exposed on Tokyo's hairpins and narrow city streets. AWD swaps are still near-mandatory for competitive online racing because they give you consistent corner exit and protect you from getting punted off line in traffic.
One important change in FH6: the PI cost of AWD swaps was increased slightly on mid-engine and rear-engine cars. It's no longer a no-brainer on every platform. On some Ferraris and Lamborghinis, keeping RWD and spending the PI budget on weight reduction and tires can actually produce a faster car — if you have the throttle control to manage it.
S2 is the fastest class in FH6 and the meta is brutally narrow — you have maybe five competitive cars and everything else is a handicap.
- 2019 Rimac Nevera (998 PI): The undisputed king. Quad-motor electric torque vectoring means it can put power down earlier and harder out of corners than anything with a driveshaft. It's 0.2-0.5 seconds per corner faster than the Jesko on technical circuits. Weakness: top speed caps around 270 mph even with gearing, so it loses to the Jesko on highway pulls. Best for: Horizon Open road racing, technical S2 circuits.
- 2020 Koenigsegg Jesko (998 PI): The speed king. Fastest car in a straight line. If the track has long straights — the Airfield, Coastal Highway, Highway Loop — the Jesko is the pick. It sacrifices some cornering precision to the Nevera but makes it back on the straights. Best for: speed-focused S2 tracks, highway racing.
- 2022 Bugatti Bolide (998 PI): The all-rounder. Not quite as fast as the Jesko, not quite as grippy as the Nevera, but the most forgiving to drive. If you're not a top-1% driver, the Bolide will probably give you better results than either of the top two because it's easier to keep clean over a full race. Best for: drivers who want consistency over peak performance.
- 2020 Lotus Evija (990 PI): Niche pick for very tight S2 circuits. Lighter than the Nevera. Incredible turn-in. Loses on straights and requires precise driving. Best for: Guanajuato, Market Street, and tight city circuits.
Build note: All S2 meta cars should run race slicks, max weight reduction, full aero (front and rear), and a tune that biases toward handling over speed. The PI is there — use it on grip. You'll make up more time in corners than you lose on straights.
S1 is the most popular class in FH6 online and the meta is healthily diverse — maybe 15-20 competitive cars depending on the track.
- 2020 Lotus Evija (900 PI): Detuned from S2, the Evija becomes an S1 monster. The instant torque gives it the best corner exit in the class. Weakness: top speed is mediocre. On tracks with long straights, it gets run down by V12-swapped supercars. Best for: technical S1 circuits.
- 2023 Ferrari SF90 Stradale (900 PI): The most balanced S1 car. Good at everything, great at nothing, never a bad choice. Handles power builds in the straights and grip builds in the corners. The safest pick if you don't know the track. Best for: all-round S1 racing.
- 2021 Lamborghini Huracán STO (900 PI): Slightly sharper turn-in than the SF90, slightly less stable under braking. Rewards aggressive driving. On the right track (tight, technical), it's faster than the SF90. On the wrong track (open, fast), it gets beaten. Best for: aggressive drivers on technical circuits.
- 2015 Porsche 918 Spyder (898 PI): Hybrid AWD like the SF90 but with better weight distribution. Very forgiving. Good car to learn S1 racing in. Will get beaten by meta cars at the top level but perfectly competitive in regular Horizon Open lobbies. Best for: S1 beginners and consistency players.
A class is where car choice starts to matter more than in S1/S2 because the PI budget is tighter and you can't just max everything.
- 2017 Ford GT (800 PI): The A-class meta king. AWD swap, race tires, weight reduction, and a handling-focused tune. It's fast enough on straights and untouchable in corners. If you only build one A-class car, build this one. Weakness: expensive (1.2M credits) and the AWD swap costs significant PI, forcing compromises elsewhere. Best for: road racing, street racing.
- 2019 Mazda MX-5 Miata (800 PI): The lightweight specialist. At under 2,300 lbs with full weight reduction, it carries more speed through corners than anything in the class. Struggles on tracks with long straights. Demands precise driving — scrubbing speed kills you because you can't power out. Best for: technical A-class circuits.
- 2018 BMW M5 (800 PI): The power build alternative. V12 swap, AWD, race tires, minimal weight reduction. Faster than the Ford GT in a straight line. Loses 2-3 tenths per corner. On tracks with long straights, the power advantage outweighs the handling deficit. Best for: speed-focused A-class tracks.
B class is the most strategic class. The PI budget is too tight to do everything, so you have to commit to a philosophy: lightweight handling or heavy power.
- 1997 Mazda RX-7 (700 PI): The lightweight handling king. Rotary engine keeps weight low. Sport tires, full weight reduction, race suspension, and a handling tune. Not fast in a straight line. Unbeatable in corners if driven cleanly. Best for: technical circuits, tight street races.
- 2002 Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec II (700 PI): The power build pick. RB26 takes boost well and the AWD system is already there (no PI-costly swap needed). Heavier and less agile than the RX-7 but much faster on straights. Best for: mixed circuits with medium-to-long straights.
- 1990 Honda NSX-R (700 PI): The middle ground. Mid-engine RWD with exceptional balance. Lighter than the Skyline, more powerful than the RX-7. Best for: drivers who want one B-class car that works everywhere.
Low-class racing in FH6 is the purest test of driving skill. Everyone has roughly the same power-to-weight ratio so races are won in braking zones and corner exits.
- C Class (1965 Mini Cooper S): Lightweight FWD that carries momentum beautifully. Front-wheel drive means you can't power-oversteer out of corners, which forces clean lines. The Mini is the meta pick for tight technical C-class circuits.
- C Class (1994 Mazda MX-5 Miata): RWD, lightweight, naturally balanced. More fun than the Mini, fractionally slower in lap time. The RWD lets you rotate the car with the throttle — satisfying to drive, harder to be consistent with.
- D Class (1969 Volkswagen Baja Bug): D class is slow enough that off-road cars can compete on pavement. The Baja Bug's rear-engine layout gives it surprising traction out of slow corners, and the off-road suspension soaks up curb strikes that unsettle stiffer road cars.
Build Philosophy: What Actually Wins Races
After thousands of FH6 online races, here's what separates podium finishes from the midfield:
- Grip over power, always. A car that's 5 mph slower on the straight but 3 mph faster through corners wins every time. Spend PI on tires, weight reduction, and aero before horsepower.
- Consistency beats peak pace. The fastest car in the lobby isn't the one with the best theoretical lap time — it's the one that stays on the road. Don't build a car you can't control. A Bolide you can drive cleanly beats a Nevera you put in the wall on lap 3.
- AWD is meta, but it's not free. On mid-engine and rear-engine platforms, the AWD PI cost is steep. Test your car RWD first. If you can manage the throttle, spending that PI on weight reduction might be faster.
- Gearing matters. Default gearing leaves time on the table. Adjust final drive so you're bouncing off the rev limiter just before the braking zone on the longest straight. Shorter gearing = better acceleration out of corners, and most FH6 tracks reward acceleration over top speed.
